Oswald Sawh has been a Northerner and resident of Thompson for over 33 years. Raised in Winnipeg, Oswald moved to Thompson in 1993 shortly after graduating from the University of Manitoba. He has been an active community member and volunteer in many areas including community development, animal welfare, municipal governance, addictions, intimate partner violence, homelessness, and challenges facing small business owners. His wife, Michele, a School Board Trustee has been the Executive Director and Lead Clinician for her organization for the last 16 years. Their son DJ is currently in high school after going through the Mystery Lake School Division since kindergarten.

Oswald has always been a big supporter of voluntarism and has stated many times over the years that “Volunteerism is the backbone of a healthy community.”
